Movie Experience
As I blogged about earlier, Lilliana and I met up with Nana and headed to see Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel on Wednesday morning. We all had a great time and enjoying a movie with a 2 year old actually makes it that much more fun. She would laugh and squeal and all kinds of random places and anytime everyone else was laughing. It was priceless! I was really surprised that we made it through the entire show with only 1 bathroom break and no meltdowns. I fully intended to have to leave about half-way through due to Lilliana's disinterest but that just wasn't the case. I see many more of these mornings in our future, especially this summer while it is so hot here in the South!

Our week
On Monday, Clay started his LSAT class full time, which meets on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 10:00. This makes Mondays long for this Momma since I work on Sunday nights but we get through it. On Tuesday, Lilliana and I went to biblestudy in the morning and then stayed at the house the rest of the day. We are doing a great study this summer on Titus and I have loved hearing all the testimonies and great encouragement from such wonderful women. Lilliana had a little ballet class that they did for all the little girls that were there and she had such a great time.
On Wednesday, we met up with Nana in Collierville to enjoy Lilliana's first movie theatre experience. They are doing a kids summer movie series here at some of the Malco's and it is only $2.00 per ticket and they have discounted treats at the concession stand too. We saw Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel and it was pretty cute. I made the mistake of not checking out the trailer until the morning of and I quickly realized that it was not completely animated so I was a little worried about how she was going to do. I did check out the Focus on the Family website for their review and I was so thankful that it passed. Not sure what I would have done if it had not. I am glad that there are these reviews available online though so that I don't have to make these decisions just based on reviews of the public and previews.
Lilliana surprised us both when she sat through the entire movie. I was prepared to have to leave half-way through but she did really well. Of course, she consumed a mountain full of junk while we were in there but I guess that was all part of the experience. Afterwards, we headed to Chick-fil-A to grab some lunch before I got my haircut and Nana took Lilliana over to my Grandmother's to see her while I was there. After my hair-cut, I picked her back up and we headed home for naps to to get ready for church that evening. We also just started a new study there that is based on organizational skills and just getting life in order. I am so incredibly excited about this study and have been working to get my family notebook together since our first meeting! I thrive on organization, and I still feel like I have a lot to do before we have this baby so I am looking forward to all I can learn.
On Thursday, we just had a pajama day at home and I went to the doctor for a scheduled visit with Dr. W. She did a cervical check via ultrasound and things are still holding strong. The baby was moving all over the place and things are going well so far. I am having some contractions throughout the day but she said as long as they aren't more than 4 an hour then we are good. She said to phone her if they are more frequent than that. I explained to her about my continued nausea and she gave me some new prenatal vitamins with Vitamin B6 in them that are supposed to help. We will just have to see.
On Friday, L and I headed to Davis Kidd for storytime and then back home for lunch and naps. I am at work now and so far I have had a good night. I think Clay is going to take her to ballet in the morning so that I can get some sleep. After last week when they made the mom's sit in the hallway, I figured there is really no need for me to drag myself there at this point. Hopefully she will do just as well with her Dadda sitting outside instead of her Momma.

Kids Activities
Today over at Kelly's Korner, she is hosting Kids Activity Ideas. Well, I wouldn't consider myself a pro at this by any means but Lilliana and I do stay pretty busy around the house and she LOVES to do crafts and stay busy. One of the very first things we did that included structured play was painting with pudding. I believe we did this as early as 9 month's and she loved it! Now, with a very busy 2 1/2 year old our activities are able to be more structured and include a lot of education where possible.
Sorting colored balls into cups; we did this fairly early on also, I think she was about 15 month's here, this was great for color recognition!
We have been doing a "letter of the week" for more than a year now and she still loves to do this. We typically incorporate a letter she is studying in school and incorporate it throughout our entire week. I usually start with a coloring page, many of them I found here, and then we do some activities with sticky notes where I place the letter all over the house and ask her to look for them and help determine whether they are uppercase or lowercase letters. We also typically take whatever letter we are studying and I cut it out of construction paper so that we are able to make something out of it. For example: for the letter "L" we did a lion and created a mane and tale and colored it. There are some great sites online where I have gotten most of my ideas and I will try to list them all at the bottom.
Another thing we do is to incorporate our letter of the week in the food we eat, going out on an "adventure" and looking for things that start with that letter. I have also found some great resources in the $1 bins at Target along with phoning the school she will be starting Pre-K at and inquiring about what type of curriculum they use. The newest book we just started using was recommended to me by some friends at church and it's called "Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons". I was able to find it at my local bookstore and I look forward to using it more.
There is a great website online called starfall and bembo's zoo that have great games online that Lilliana LOVES to do. She even asks if she can play her "game" on the computer!

We also incorporate a weekly bible verse either from this book, or from something she is studying at PDO. This summer they are learning to recite John 3:16 and have broken the verse up into all 6 weeks of school this summer. I try and continue this at home and realize that she is only 2 so it may take a while for her to pick up on a longer verse. This really helps when we talk about the behaviors we should be exhibiting as a 'daughter of the King'. One of my favorite verses that we go back to on many occasions is, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons (or daughters) of God" Matthew 5:9. We talk a lot about choosing to be a peacemaker over a troublemaker when playing with our friends or when situations arise that cause dissension.
Other than doing letter's of the week and educational games, we love to just get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Here in the South it gets extremely hot in the summer so the purchase of a splash pool and water table are almost a must. We love to get outside and sit in the shade to enjoy these fun summer time toys. We also have a great splash pad that is close to us that we try and visit about once a week. We also have a great Children's Museum here and fabulous Zoo that we enjoy visiting when it's not so hot outside. It doesn't matter where you live there are always fun things for kids to do, and lot's of times free things. You just have to do a little research.

I also LOVE to let L cook with me. She loves to do whatever Mommy is doing so she has some certain utensils that are hers and she will pull up a chair and dig right in. We love to make homemade bread together, pizzas and pretty much whatever I am
cooking for dinner if I allow her to help. I love the way she wants to be so useful and hope it will be helpful when baby #2 comes along!

We love trips to Target, strolls around the neighborhood, playtime at the park and even storytime at Davis Kidd. I think one of the biggest realizations was finding out that they really aren't ever to young to start learning in some aspect. Lilliana LOVES to read and we have made it a habit since birth. Now, she won't go to bed without choosing books for us to read and rocking. It's the little things that I hope she is able to cherish in the long run and not the money that was spent, or not spent. I pray it is the quality time and moments we have together that will truly last a lifetime.

Mississippi River Walk
A couple weeks ago, L and I headed downtown to the Mississippi River Walk. It is an exact to scale replica of the Mississippi River and for some reason we had not ever made our way down there. We had such a great time and plan to definitely go back. After enjoying our morning in the sun and water, we headed to Movie and a Pizza, down in Harbor Town, where Clay and I spent many a night before L was born. We shared a pepperoni pizza and then headed home for naps. I love these special times with just my little love and I. I know things are going to be changing soon so I am trying to soak up every last minute with just the 2 of us!

Happy Birthday Le Bonheur
On Tuesday, we headed down to Le Bonheur for a parade in honor of the new hospital and the 58th birthday of Le Bonheur. It was so incredibly hot, but so much fun. Lilliana had a great time and got all sorts of goodies to take home. I was really impressed with how prepared they were for the heat. They were passing out unlimited supplies of water, cold cloths, umbrellas to block the sun, sunscreen, fans, you name it. It really made an almost unbearable situation so worth it. There were a ton of people there and we had planned to stay and tour the hospital but it started inching into lunch time and we decided to go ahead and make our way to grab a bite to eat. I am so glad we were able to go because it really makes you realize how much the community here in involved in this new hospital becoming a reality. I am so proud to say I work there and can't wait till we move!!

A 2nd look
Today I headed to the Maternal Fetal Specialist for a 2nd look at Baby "Larry's" heart. I decided to let Lilliana go with me because I really want her to be as involved as possible with this baby and she is so incredibly excited at this point I just couldn't tell her little puppy dog eyes no. She did really good with the waiting and got lots of stickers from the nurses for being a good girl while we were there. Definitely changes the experience though, not nearly as enjoyable worrying about what she was doing the whole time while I was laid up on the ultrasound table! Although she was watching the baby on the screen she also wanted to watch Mickey Mouse on my phone, which I conveniently was ready for and had it next to me but then about 10 minutes later she decided she also wanted my snack. I told her she would have to find it in my purse so she proceeded to take everything out of there and place it in the floor during her search. Silly girl, at least she cleaned it up like I said and after finding her Princess gummy snacks she was set for the rest of the scan. She loved hearing the babies heartbeat and wanted to hear it again and again. She still talks about the noise the babies heart makes. I just love her so much.
Well, all that to say, everything looked just perfect once again! I was so busy with L that I didn't even have the time to realize that I maybe was a little bit anxious. So thankful for her little life and the way God has used her time and time again to control my anxiety this pregnancy. Baby is measuring about 2 weeks AHEAD of schedule and for probably the first and only time of it's life, I was told it's a pretty big baby!! It is already weighing about 1 lb. 4 oz. and moving and kicking around just perfectly.
I hate that I didn't get any pics while we were there but since it was just L and I (Clay was working on some LSAT stuff) I just didn't have the time. We are really starting to get excited about this new little blessing and I am trying to get Clay motivated to work on L's new room. She is still constantly talking about the fact we are painting it pink and seems really thrilled. Lets just hope it continues until the big move and even further! I don't think ever blogged about my fabulous find on her room a couple month's ago. I was looking online for a little white Jenny Lind twin size bed. Well, after lots and lots of research, I was completely unsuccessful because the only one I found was at a website and it cost $499.00!! You have got to be kidding me, I was NOT paying that for a bed for my 2 year old. Anyways, I decided to check on craigslist and amazingly, I found just what I was looking for, and I got 2 of them!! They are an antique brown color and I got them for a steal of $180.00 for BOTH!! I plan to actually keep the brown and I can't wait till the day that I can put both of those precious little Jenny Lind beds in her room. Whether it's for a precious little sister or even a best friend. It is what I have always wanted and although we don't have the room for both of them or need them both at this time I just couldn't pass up this deal. I also found her a brown rocking chair while I was at it for $35.00 to place in there. We have a nice rocker in her room at this time and since she still loves to rock, I wanted to get her something for her new room. I am by no means making her give up this precious little night time routine anytime soon so I knew I wanted something special (and cheap) for her new big girl room. Clay was really impressed with my findings, as was I, because I so easily forget about Craigslist and it's convenience. I promise to post some pics once it's on it's way from manly Tiger Blue, as it stands now to Ballerina Pink! Oh yeah and here is a pic of her bedding I found. I didn't love it at first but I think it will work out just perfectly once everything comes together, and well, Lilliana thinks it's just the greatest and that's what really matter anyways, right?

Father's Day Weekend
We had a laid back weekend to celebrate Father's Day. On Saturday, Clay and I took Lilliana back to the Levitt Shell for another one of the kids concerts and this time it was Farmer Jason. She had a great time as usual and we enjoyed Memphis Pizza Cafe for dinner. Afterwards, we headed to Collierville to go to a friends housewarming party and dropped L off at her Gigi and Poppy's for a few hours. Of course, they wanted her to spend the night but this Momma is just not ready for that yet! I dread the possibility of bedrest and that being her first time away from me, I just pray that doesn't happpen. Anyways, after a couple hours we went back to pick up our little love and head home. She stayed asleep in the car and only woke to let me know she wanted to rock when we got home. :) Love her!

Life Lately!
Well, now that I am just over half way in this pregnancy, things are really starting to feel "real". Of course, in my situation, only God knows how much longer I will be pregnant and the day this little bundle of joy is going to grace us with their presence. I still don't really have an inkling one way or another about whether it is a boy or a girl. In the beginning I really thought it was a boy because I was so sick and was not really sick with L but now I am beginning to have my doubts. Lilliana still calls the baby "Larry" so that is what we are calling it for now. Don't worry, that will not be it's name in the end! :)
So far things are going pretty good with "Baby Larry". I have been feeling good, although there is a small amount of nausea that has graced me lately. Not sure what that's about but it seems to hit in the morning. I still have my trusty Zofran though and I have tried just taking a half of a tablet to see if that will hold me off and so far so good. I feel like a house already although I think I have only gained about 11 pounds. Unfortunately, I am gaining weight all over and not just in my belly which is exactly what I did with L. That is what makes me think maybe it's another little girl.
This baby is extremely active already just like it's big sister. I remember at times thinking that Lilliana was trying to crawl out of my body because she was moving so much. Of course those little jabs and kicks are just sweet at this point since the baby isn't that big yet. I feel like I may be having some irritability a couple times a day but otherwise I think that's it for now. Of course, I don't expect to have a perfect pregnancy and after talking with my doctor so much while pregnant with L, she told me most people have some contractions / irritability throughout their pregnancies but may not even realize it. I am just so in tune to my body and so small I seem to feel and know everything that's going on.
Lilliana loves to kiss on "Baby Larry" and asks about it constantly. She still thinks she has a baby in her belly and has been practicing a lot with her baby dolls. We are getting ready to work on her Big Girl room, which used to be Clay's office. We are going to paint it pink and I found her a precious little coverlet from Company Kids that I think will go just perfectly. She seems really excited and is telling everyone about her new pink room. Hopefully the transition to a twin bed will go as easily as the transition went to her toddler bed.
I am trying to rest as much as I can at night but I am also trying to enjoy every single minute I have with just my little love and I. There are times when we are rocking and singing at night and I just want to cry thinking about the fact that soon she is going to have a sibling to have to share everything with. It just breaks my heart although I know a sibling is one of the most precious gifts I can give her. I just wonder how I will ever love another little baby like I love Lilliana and how I will have the time to do the things I love to do with my little love after the baby arrives. I just don't want L to miss out on life or have any regrets if I can help it. We have been keeping ourselves so busy during the week doing all sorts of special activities with just the 2 of us. I am trying to cherish this precious time that we have left and enjoy my life with L as an only child.

We are getting ready to work on her Big Girl room, which used to be Clay's office. We are going to paint it pink and I found her a precious little coverlet from Company Kids that I think will go just perfectly. She seems really excited and is telling everyone about her new pink room. Hopefully the transition to a twin bed will go as easily as the transition went to her toddler bed.
I am trying to rest as much as I can at night but I am also trying to enjoy every single minute I have with just my little love and I. There are times when we are rocking and singing at night and I just want to cry thinking about the fact that soon she is going to have a sibling to have to share everything with. It just breaks my heart although I know a sibling is one of the most precious gifts I can give her. I just wonder how I will ever love another little baby like I love Lilliana and how I will have the time to do the things I love to do with my little love after the baby arrives. I just don't want L to miss out on life or have any regrets if I can help it. We have been keeping ourselves so busy during the week doing all sorts of special activities with just the 2 of us. I am trying to cherish this precious time that we have left and enjoy my life with L as an only child.
She is such a special child and means more to me than life itself!!

Levitt Shell
I finally uploaded my camera with lots of pics that I had been blogging about. Here are pics from our night out to the Levitt Shell to celebrate with Lilliana as she turned 2 1/2!!

That's how old Lilliana turned today and it just blows my mind that she is on her way to being 3!! She is the sweetest, most precious, most enduring child I have ever met. I'm being serious when I say that. Clay and I are so incredibly blessed by her life and I can't imagine a single minute without her. She is so loving and is constantly telling me how sweet I am and how much she loves me. I just love that characteristic about her. She wears her heart on her sleeve and just loves with such generosity.
I would love to attribute her precious little heart to the fact that I didn't let her cry herself to sleep when she was a baby and didn't make her self soothe, but I don't really know for sure. For all I know, she could be this same way had I done things differently. All that to say, there are times when I think I am going to do a lot of things differently this next time but then I realize that I like the way Lilliana has turned out thus far. :)
Yesterday we celebrated Lilliana's 2 1/2 birthday with a yummy breakfast of ham and cheese eggs, toast with jelly and bacon. Then we got ready and headed to ballet class #2. Again, she had a great time and besides the little incident where she was picking her nose in front of everyone, she did great! She loves going to class and is so sad when it's time for it to be over. After class, we headed to Davis Kidd to play with the trains and read some books before storytime with Mrs. Marjorie. We haven't been able to go during the week lately because we have been so busy with other things. This is the first time L has sat still the entire time during the story just sitting at Mrs. Marjorie's feet intently listening.
Clay went and picked up her cookie cake I had ordered while we were there and then headed to watch the soccer game while L and I played some more at Davis Kidd and then made a quick trip to Target before heading home for lunch. After lunch and naps, I packed us a picnic dinner and we headed to meet Clay at Lenny's so we could pick up the remainder of our dinner before heading to the kids concert at the Levitt Shell. Some friends at work had told me about it a few weeks ago and it was FABULOUS! Lilliana had a great time just running and dancing all around. We will definitely be going back and enjoying these free concerts the rest of the summer.
I am so thankful for my little miracle and can't believe she has already been in my life for 2 1/2 years. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for her in the future and I know she is going to make such an amazing big sister.

Ballet lesson day #2
This morning started out with a day of ballet. Again, Lilliana did great and had such a fun time. Unfortunately, as soon as she got out of the car she tripped and ripped her little tights and skinned her knee. She was so worried that they wouldn't let her in to dance since her tights were messed up but I told her it was going to be fine and that we would head to Target that afternoon to pick up some more. I didn't take many pics while we were there this time because I tried to video more so there is some of that included too. It just melts my heart to see her growing up and doing something so girly. Love it!!
I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of this in our future!

Lilliana is a ballerina
Saturday was Lilliana's first day at ballet class. She was so insanely excited and has been talking about when ballet was going to start for month's now. I mean seriously, I kept thinking she would forget but the closer it got to time to start the more she would ask about it. She loves to dance around the living room and I was hoping she would have a great time. Such a fun first with my little love!
We signed her up for a class that was supposed to meet on Tuesday's this summer but the class did not fill up so they moved us all to Saturdays. Of course that makes things somewhat difficult since I work Friday nights but I wouldn't have her missing the class because of me. :)
We went and bought her a pink leotard and tights from Target and then headed to the dance store to purchase her first pair of pink ballet shoes. They were so tiny and so cute on her little feet. We got the smallest size they had available although they are still a little big!
She was so cute on Saturday morning when I got home from work. Clay had given her a bath and was blow-drying her hair. We had to pull it up into a bin, which turned into just a pony tail, and then headed to Chick-fil-a to grab some breakfast. We decided to go with something that wouldn't necessarily stain her leotard in case she spilled so she choose, a cinna cluster.
After arriving at the church, she was so excited to get upstairs to her room. After a quick trip to the potty, we headed up the stairs to wait for her teacher to come out and get them. Since this was the first time, they allowed the Mom's to come inside and sit behind them and watch. It was so fun to see her interacting with all the other little girls and dancing around the room. She seemed to have such a great time and was not ready to leave.
We both can't wait until next week!

Fun day at the Sprinkler Park!
On Thursday, Lilliana and I met some friends at our local Sprinkler Park. It was supposed to be an overcast and rainy day but it turned out just perfect. Sunny and warm, just right for a day spent in the sun. Lilliana absolutely loves the water, even more so now that swimming lessons are over, and she had a fabulous time. We packed a picnic lunch and sat in the shade to enjoy it. We plan to make many trips there this summer and can't wait to go back!!
