The week before Junior-K

After receiving the following postcard in the mail from Little Love's Jr-K teacher, it all hit me. I realized that in just over a week, my precious little girl was going to be starting Big Girl School.

We decided that the entire week before was going to be dedicated just to her and we wanted to squeeze in as many fun activities as possible.

Since I worked on Sunday night, I rested Monday but we hit the ground running first thing Tuesday morning. We started off my dropping Little Man off at Gigi's and Little Love and I went shoe shopping.

She was quite opinionated this year about her shoes but I love the precious little saddle oxford looking keds she picked out. Too cute!

After shoe shopping, we made a couple stops to look at some clothes and then we were both hungry. Little Love requested a burger so we stopped by Red Robin and had a great lunch.

We then made plans to see "Brave" at the Collierville theatre and had so much fun eating popcorn and snacks and just snuggling during the scary parts. :)

After the movie was over, I asked her where our next stop should be and she requested none other than Target. That's my girl!

We walked around and looked at the toys and books and Little Love picked out a CD from the movie "Brave" and we headed to the checkout.

We knew it was time to head back to Gigi's and check on Little Man.

Lucky for us, he was snoozin away so we took that opportunity to go swimming and enjoy some more relaxing girl time.

We just stayed around at Gigi's for the evening and ate dinner and then did a little vegetable picking in the garden before calling it a night.

We had such a great first day of celebrating Little Love and couldn't wait to continue the fun the next!

A fun Saturday

We decided to make a trip down to our local Farmer's Market on Saturday. It was so much fun and we were able to get some yummy fruits and veggies while we were there.

When we walked up they had some dogs you could adopt and both kids were smitten. Too bad for them but we aren't adding any more 4-legged friends in the near future.

While at the market we saw a food truck from Central Barbeque, sisters most favorite restaurant. So, we decided to stop by the air conditioned location on our way home.

Little Man couldn't keep his fingers off my barbecue nachos. They are so delicious!!

When we got home, there was a package at my door. It was my new Boba Air carrier. Little Love decided to try out baby wearing with her American Girl doll Abbey. Love her!!

A typical Saturday

We started out our day with a little bit of car trouble, my engine coolant light came on Friday so we didn't want to take any chances with something like that so we got up and dropped my car off for repairs and headed to Dunkin Donuts per Little Loves request.

After a Target run for some necessities and then a trip to the Pottery Barn outlet for a new backpack/lunchbox for big sister, we headed home to make sure the house was "show-ready" and the kiddos enjoyed a little downtime with some coloring and a show of Doc McStuffins.

I just love that Little Man adores his sissy so much. He will do anything that she is doing and does so with such a full heart!

Once the house was in tip-top shape, we headed to Best Buy to pick up a cover for the iPad. Ours is a second generation but we've had it quite a while and with our upcoming Disney trip, we needed a cover a little more indestructible for the 2 little munchkins since it will be the primary DVD player on the plane.

Clay always takes them to the headphone's and they love to listen to music in them. :)

We then made a stop by the game consoles and both kids got a big kick out of a Donkey Kong game on the Wii. Little Man was making monkey noises and sister was acting as if she knew how to play.

You can always find something to do at Best Buy!

Then we made a stop by Chipotle for lunch before heading home for naps.

The kids ended up going to Collierville to swim at Poppy and Gigi's since I had to work last night and Little Love stayed the night. I'm pretty sure they both are part fish and could stay in the water all day if given the chance.

I just love these lazy weekends and so wish they weren't interrupted with work, maybe one day :)

It's that time again

In less than 6 weeks, it will be time for the annual Forrest Spence Fund. I can't say enough wonderful things about this event and the precious family that started it in memory of their precious first-born son. This year, I was privileged to be on the sponsorship committee. To be honest, I was a bit overwhelmed at first but after the emails were sent and the sponsorships started coming in, it was like Christmas morning. Such a celebration with each sponsorship pledge! I can't wait to see all that is in store this year. So don't forget to join us on August 25th at 8:00 am in Overton Park!!

Throughout the year the fund has events to help raise money throughout the community and the other night, we took advantage of one of those. One of our local yogurt shops was donating 20% of the proceeds to the fund so the kids and I packed up and headed to get some yummy yogurt after dinner.

Little Man didn't eat his dinner very well so I had initially said he wasn't going to get any yogurt, obviously, that didn't go over very well.

He would not keep his sticky little fingers off of my strawberries, I can't blame him though, we love strawberries in this house.

She is seriously the BEST big sister, always sharing with her buddy :)

She was upset here though because I was out of strawberries so he moved onto her bowl, oh, and took the last one!! Bless it :(

God Bless America

We had a wonderful 4th of July. We started our morning with our annual neighborhood parade. They moved the time up to start at 9:30 since it has been so crazy hot here and I am so glad they did. We were sweltering by time it was over. But, it was such a great time as always and one thing I will definitely miss about this precious neighborhood we live in. We then headed to Clay's parents to swim, enjoy some good barbeque and great fellowship. Clay was actually able to get off for the evening so we got out to see a movie during the kids nap time. We ended the evening enjoying the Germantown Fireworks on our way home. We got there just in time to get a great seat and watch a wonderful Fireworks show. Both kids loved it and were spent by time we got home. I love spending such precious time with all the people I love! Here's a link to a small clip our local news did and towards the end you can see Clay and Little Love (it's right when they talk about the popsicle truck) :) http://www.wmctv.com/category/195967/video-landing-page?clipId=7468742&autostart=true

A day at the movies...

With the weather being so hot around here, we have tried to find some indoor activities that both kids can enjoy.

Our movie theatre does a kids summer movie series with 2nd run shows on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings throughout the summer and it's only $2.00 per person. You can also get a kids popcorn, drink and candy for $2.50 so overall, it's a great deal.

Today we saw Shrek. Little Man was a little more difficult to handle today versus last weeks showing but I'm blaming that on the fact that Clay was able to join us last time so I had man-to-man combat then. :)

Overall, it was a lot of fun and we ended our morning with a quick run by Target and then lunch at Lenny's.

My view

My sweet loves last night when I was heading to bed.

Little Love always starts off in her bed at night, but that doesn't always last. Typically she will call out to me just before midnight and I'll go get her to snuggle in our bed.

I know it's a bad habit but it's one I'm willing to work on later. Maybe after we move :) She's only little once and I know before I blink, she'll be too cool to snuggle at night.
