Spaghetti dinner

Tonight we let Little Man finish up Big Sister's spaghetti. I wasn't sure if he would enjoy it but I should have known he wouldn't look twice! This boy has never turned down a meal!! He just loves to eat and we all just love to squeeze and love on his chunky self!!

I did have to put him directly in the tub afterward because it wasn't even worth attempting a clean up with a wet wipe :)

Just a movin ...

As of naptime yesterday, this Little Man is on the move. He's been rolling everywhere for the last few months and now he has starting army crawling. Oh, and he's fast too!! That combined with his quick hands and desire to eat anything he sees in front of him is making for one busy little boy!!

New Header

I got my pics back this past weekend from our 8 month photo shoot with the fabulous Elizabeth Wiggs and I can't get enough of this new header pic!! It is just my most favorite pic of my 2 little miracles and I can't wait until my canvas arrives for the wall.

In other news, I am really starting to make headway on Little Man's 1st birthday festivities and also working to plan a 4th Birthday party for Little Love. Where does the time go???

Fireworks

Tonight we went to Collierville to watch the fireworks with some friends. We lucked up because their house backs up to the park they were shooting the fireworks in so we were able to stay inside until time for them to start. Little Man fell asleep on the way out there and sleep through the whole thing back in Paxton's room. Little Love and P had a great time playing in the sandbox and jumping on the trampoline until time for things to get started.

I was worried that Little Love wouldn't like the loud noise once it started but she was mesmerized. She loved every minute of it and the 2 of us just snuggled on our picnic blanket the whole show. Love these precious times with my little girl.

We didn't get home until almost 10:30 so both kids went straight to their beds. Little Man didn't bat an eye from transfer to his crib and Little Love only had one request, that she sleep with her glow bracelets and wand she got from P's house. Love them!!

We still have more fun activities planned for the remainder of our weekend. Clay and LL are going to decorate her wagon for our neighborhood parade tomorrow after church and then more fun set for Monday night. We love the 4th of July around here!!

The last 36

The last 36 hours have been somewhat of a blur. I was on call last night for ECMO and unfortunately got called in for the first time since having Little Man, and what a long night it was. I ended up having to stay at work until almost 6:00 am this morning and then it was life as usual this afternoon only to have to return to work tonight for my regularly scheduled shift. Not really my idea of fun :(

We did have a pretty good day though despite my exhaustion. I took a little nap this morning when I got home before both kids woke and then we ran by the mall to get a birthday gift for a party we have tomorrow. We decided to stop at the food court and Little Man had his first taste of yummy Chick-fil-A. With all these teeth coming in I am being much more adventurous with food than I was with Little Love at this point.

I am back at work now and we have a fun, busy weekend ahead of us. I am looking forward to celebrating with precious friends tomorrow and then fun 4th of July happenings this weekend.

A beautiful noise

Today, on Little Man's 9 month birthday, he officially said "Momma"! He has been showing signs of it for a while and doing lot's of babbling but today we were certain that he was calling out to me. Such a sweet sound!!

Lazy Sunday

Today we decided to forgo church because Little Love was running a fever last night and for the past 3 weeks I've had to leave Sunday School to go fetch my crying Little Man, so we took the morning off.

We decided instead to hit up Cracker Barrel for some yummy breakfast. Little Love and I split something while Clay enjoyed biscuits and gravy. I just started giving Little Man yogurt and he devoured the entire container today. Must have been hungry!

Now it's rest time for all and then work for me tonight. Hoping for a better night than Friday as it was super busy compared to the last few weekends.

Of course we have a super busy week planned but I hope to catch up on some blogging soon. I am still so very behind and I don't want to forget all these precious memories we are making.

Hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday. :)

For a good cause

Last Sunday, we headed out to Sweet CeCe's for some yummy FroYo. They were actually having a deal all weekend that part of the proceeds went to the Forrest Spence Fund and then on Sunday, Dad's got free ice cream for Father's Day so it was a win win situation.

Little Love and I typically share our ice cream and this time Clay let Little Man in on the action. We didn't give Little Love any sugar until her 1st Birthday but I guess things change the 2nd time around! :)

I sure do love these kids!!

Oh, and yes, LL is wearing her Dora gown out on the town. We pick our battles around here and this is one of those that I refuse to argue over when it's just a quick trip for ice cream :)

Little Love - VBS

Here's a small snippet of Little Love tonight at Family night for VBS. It was so hilarious and fun at the same time to watch her perform on stage. Just warms my heart to see her singing and praising the Lord!!

3 1/2

This Little Love turned 3 1/2 today! We celebrate half birthdays around our house and she couldn't have been happier.

The morning started with VBS and then she ran some errands with Daddy before nap and then it was an evening for her.

We ordered her the annual cookie cake with pink icing per request and then went by Target for a little half birthday shopping trip through the dollar bins. Then it was dinner, chosen by the Princess of course of Chick-fil-A. We sang Happy half birthday and blew out a candle because that's a must for any birthday girl.

I'll do a longer post later about what she's up to these days. Oh how I love my little 3 1/2 year old Princess!!

8 month's

Little Man, you are 8 month's old. I can't believe how quickly we are approaching the 1 year mark, it is just beyond me!! You have become quite the little sitter lately and it is just crazy that it seems to have happened overnight. I feel like one day you would tripod and be wiggling all over the place and then the next, you were an official sitter. You are also rolling all over the place. You never sit still and are all over the place when I lay you down. I try and place you on a blanket or quilt to keep you off the dirty floor but you are too quick for me. You will just roll off any surface I put you on and not stop until you can't roll any longer. You have also become quite the Momma's boy. You have always preferred me over others but now you cry for me all the time. You cry if I give you to your daddy or pretty much anyone else. You may be alright when I am not in view but the minute you see me, you begin to whine and reach for me. It does make my heart smile but it is also tough on your Momma to not get any kind of break. You are still sleeping great and taking 2-3 naps a day. You go down for your morning nap without any trouble but when it's time for your afternoon one, you tend to struggle a bit. I know you are exhausted and you are rubbing your eyes and so forth but you just don't want to give up most days.

You are such a sweet little boy and I just love watching you and your big sister together. You love to laugh at her and think she is so funny. Seeing the 2 of you together just melts my heart and makes me love you all the more.

Your hair is really starting to come in more and more and it is so very red! Actually, when you get mad, your eyebrows and hair get even more gleaming red if that is even possible!! We had pictures this month with Elizabeth Wiggs and I was very pleased with how they turned out. You were such a trooper and besides trying to eat rocks and grass, during the shoot, you did great.

You are wearing mostly 12 month clothes and size 3 in disposable diapers. I just had to buy you more cloth diapers because you have outgrown most of your Bum Genius 3.0 size medium dipes. I still love cloth diapering and you look so precious in them!!
I can't believe how "crunchy" I have become lately!! I think things are so much easier than they used to be when it comes to cloth diapering.

You are eating 3 meals a day and nursing about every 4 hours in between meals. You are still a great nurser although you have become a bit distracted lately when sissy is in the room. You love all veggies along with applesauce, mango, pears and bananas. You aren't as big on fruit as you are vegetables but that is just fine with me. I know your preference will soon change so I am just fattening you up with good stuff for the time being.

You don't seem too interested in crawling at this point but you have recently started to stand while holding onto something. You love your play table and for me to stand you up to it to play. You also got a tooth this month!!! I can't believe it. Little Love didn't get her first tooth until she was 17 month's so this is new territory for me.

I love you so much Little Man and I can't wait to see what God has in store for your life!!

Having fun

Little man has recently taken a liking to his toys he got for Christmas. I guess that since he has now mastered sitting, they are more enjoyable!!

Random's from the iPhone

I sure do love this little Princess. She is so excited about the fun times we have coming up. She has been such a busy little bee lately between ballet, gymnastics, art classes, swimming lessons, and school. I'm telling ya, her social calendar is much fuller than mine ever was!! It's beginning to wear me out, and we're just starting!!

This Little Man also has my heart. I just love rocking him to sleep and snuggling him all day. He just adores his big sister and gives her the best belly laughs.

We took a trip to the Zoo last week and for some reason this is the only pic I got. Not sure why she insisted on hugging the Buddah at the panda exhibit but I guess she felt it was something neat to climb on. :)

When I came home from work on Saturday, this is the scene I saw. Such precious kiddos!! Love them!!

We are more than ready for the beach. I just got these suits in for the kids and can't wait to see them on them. Love me some matching outfits for my precious loves!!

SUYL - desserts

If there is one thing I have gained from having children, it would definitely be a "sweet tooth"! I never really had a desire to eat sweet things before having kids but since, I seem to "need" a dessert or something sweet with every meal. At least with dinner. Anyways, here a few of my favorite recipes of all times.

First off is a Banana Fudge Pie. This is my go to for new mom's or when I am taking a fun dessert for a party. I just love it! My mom ran across the recipe probably more than 20 years ago and began making it for my dad at that time and I have carried on the tradition. It is by far my most favorite dessert ever and my request when it's birthday time.

Banana Fudge Pie

1 pie crust
3/4 c. chocolate chips
1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. sugar
3 bananas

In small pan on stovetop, melt chips slowly, turn off heat and add eggs, sugar and stir. Add 1 cup of the Cool Whip and mix well. Pour into pie shell and bake at 350 degrees until top springs back or toothpick comes out clean. Cool pie, then add bananas (sliced) and Cool Whip. Keep refrigerated. I typically top with mini chips and a few more bananas too. Yum, yum, good!!

This next recipe is for Caramel Pie. I got it from one of my friends from nursing school and since making it for the first time and taking it to a family function, it has been much requested. Super easy and so yummy!!

Caramel Pie

1 graham cracker pie crust
1 can Eagle Brand Milk
2 Heath bars - crushed
cool whip

Cook a can of Eagle Brand Milk, unopened in boiling water ( low boil) for 3-4 hours. Cool completely in refrigerator up to 2 days and then it can then be spread into a prepared pie shell and covered in whip cream, or cool whip. Top with Heath bar pieces and serve. It is to die for!!

Be sure the can is completely immersed in water while it simmers or there is a danger of the can exploding.

Little Man's BIG news!!

This Little Man has 2 teeth!! I found the first one last Friday and then the other this past week. Both on the bottom and I'm still in shock. Big sister didn't get her first tooth until she was 17 months!!

First time eating big boy food. Homemade blueberry muffins!!

Just hangin

We have a very busy 2 weeks ahead of us and I am enjoying every minute with these 2 precious babies!!

One of them is becoming more of a needy little carrot top every day but clinging to your Mommy only lasts a little while so I'll just try to enjoy these moments.

Oh and for big sister, her social calendar is killing me these days! Since when did the life if a 3 year old become so exciting???

She is so sweet to Little Man and they are playing together more and more each day!!

Love it and this life!!

A big let down

Today Little Love and I headed to a local bookstore for breakfast with Belle. I bought our tickets almost a month ago and have really been looking forward to taking my little Princess. I found a sweet friend to switch shifts with me at work since breakfast was set to begin at 8:30.

I decided to wait and surprise Little Love when we arrived but spent the early morning hours before leaving giving her hints to what we were up to. We sang songs from the movie on the way there and I'm pretty sure she knew something special was going on.

When we arrived, we checked in with Miss Marjorie and headed to the Bistro to sit down for breakfast. We were handed a bag full of goodies to do while waiting on Princess Belle and that was when Little Love figured it out. She was so excited and ready to see Belle. We waited and waited, finished our breakfast and were told to head to the activity center. It really never hit me that something was off, although everyone had been wondering when Belle would come out.

Miss Marjorie said we always started story time with a song so we all sang " If You're Happy and You Know It" then, she broke the news. She said that Belle wasn't coming, that her carriage got stuck in the mud!! Are you kidding me. All the little Princesses were devastated and I think all the Mom's jaws dropped to the ground at the same time.

After a refund for the tickets I'd purchased we headed home. I was so sad for my Little Love. I know there will be many more disappointments in her life but I don't want to be the cause of them if I can help it.

Oh, and she's been in search of Belle all day while we were out. She wanted to help get her unstuck from the mud. :(
