2nd Baptist Halloween Festival
Mom and I took Lilliana to the Fall Festival at 2nd Baptist Church which is just down the road from our house. It was so much fun and the weather was just perfect for spending time outside. They had trunk-or-treating and Lilliana had a great time practicing saying "trick-or-treat". She was so cute and loved filling up her bag with candy and fun treats. We decided to forgo her Minnie costume on this outing since it is homemade and I want to make sure it makes it to the big night, we decided not to take any chances. :)

An apple a day keeps the doctor away
Clay and I decided to head to the apple orchards in Millington last weekend for some fun apple picking. This is something we haven't done before and I thought Lilliana would enjoy herself and since we all like apples, I figured they wouldn't have a problem being eaten.
What seemed like a great idea, didn't turn out as good as I had hoped because it was so stinkin hot along with an insane amount of mosquitos. Don't get me wrong, Lilliana seemed to have a great time but she was covered in bites by time we left and upon leaving she fell into a rotten apple and then when I picked her up, it got all over me too! Not a great way to end our adventure but we did get some great apples, thanks to Clay's help reaching up into the tree's for the good one's. :)

Playgroup at the Zoo!!
On Friday we packed up and headed to the Zoo with our friends from Playgroup. It happened to be a very cold day and I think the high was around 52 and there wasn't any sun. Luckily I was prepared with Lilliana, but I can't say that much for myself! It was a great day though and we enjoyed the new exhibit that just opened, Teton Trek. It has grizzly bears and wolves, along with elk and such a neat lodge that you are able to eat in.

Today is infant loss and awareness day. As in every year since losing our precious Cooper, we will light a candle tonight at 7:00 pm (all time zones) and keep it burning for at least an hour in his memory. The changes that have taken place in my life within the last 3 years are unmeasurable. I can tell you that 3 years ago today, I had no idea the challenges and joy that lay ahead for my family. Clay and I were blissfully happy and expecting our first child, a son, who we would name Cooper Walker Burchett. I was so excited, feeling wonderful and thinking I was a pretty cute pregnant girl at that. When I was admitted to the hospital on October 18, 2006 I had only gained 14 pounds with my pregnancy and was 24 weeks along. ( I didn't fare nearly as well with Lilliana :) The only real crisis I had been through before October 18, 2006 was the loss of my father on April 20, 1996. I had always been a Daddy's girl so this had been extremely hard on me, especially at the ripe old age of 16, but it was something that I got through with the help of so many friends and family. My mom stepped up as the family support and played the role of both mother and father. Although I missed him, and still do to this day, there were so many things going on during that stage of my life that helped to keep me busy.
The loss of a child is something that I can't even put into words. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him in some context and sometimes think I would loose my mind if I had 2 at this point, but I know that God won't give us any more than we can handle. I was talking with a friend about Cooper the other night at work and was telling her how it didn't really seem real to me until Clay and were spoken to by the Neonatologist, whom I didn't care for at all. I knew something was wrong when I went in to see Dr. K that Wednesday early afternoon but Clay kept telling me everything was fine and that I was just overreacting. I actually had to almost beg for an appointment that morning because the office also kept reassuring me everything was probably fine. (I need to disclose though, that I made excuse after excuse for the reason I wasn't feeling well, I had been on my feet all day charging at work, running ECMO, I was dehydrated, not enough sleep and so on and so on) It's just crazy to me, because 3 years ago, this was just an ordinary day, there wasn't anything about it that stood any significance and how things just did turn within 72 hours.
I have met so many people, through true friendships and the blog world who have lost children, whether it be miscarriage, stillbirth or even infant death. It doesn't make it easier no matter what way because we all had dreams and desires for those children. Please be in prayer for all those with losses today and the many women struggling right now to hold onto babies and carrying those who aren't expected to live outside of the womb. There is so much heartache in this world but God has promised He will never leave us, He says in John 16:33 "...In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world."

T-I-G-E-R-S TIGERS!!!
Not only was I exhausted from the long drive back from Florida, the 2 day conference to see Beth Moore, but I also decided to throw a little more into my weekend. After leaving day #2 of Beth Moore I headed directly to Cheer Station here in Memphis for University of Memphis, Alumnae cheer practice. I know, sounds pretty crazy and I almost backed out all the way up to my entrance into the gym. Had I not seen my good friends and former squad members, Jessica and Julie yelling and waving to me when I walked in the door, I think I would have turned right around and headed home!
Practice was from 1:00 - 3:00 and was not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. I left the house saying I wasn't tumbling and wasn't doing any type of climbing and I kept one of those promises. There was something about being back in that gym and bouncing to the U of M fight song on that blue gym mat that really got my blood boiling. I didn't get too frisky but did decided to do a few stunts! After learning the new motions to the fight song and enough cheers to get us through the game, Frankie, the owner of Cheer Station, informed us all that he had allowed the current cheer team the night off so we were it! Was he serious? I really don't think we truly believed him until we arrived on the field and saw that he wasn't lying! Now Memphis football is nothing to write home about but since it was Homecoming there were a few more people there than normal.
We had to be there at 6:00 for the 7:00 tip off which brought back all those memories too. Clay and Lilliana tagged along with me since I was scheduled to work that evening at 11:00 and I knew Lilliana wouldn't make it much past the start of the game which gave me my out. I also really want the both of them there to watch me so I was so glad that Clay obliged. I really think Lilliana had a great time. She was dancing and cheering the whole game and seemed so proud of her Momma out on the field. It was such a fabulous night and was way more fun than I ever thought possible. All it took was that royal blue shirt, big white bow in my hair and tiger on my left cheek to get me in the game and we were ready to show our skills that we still had! I wasn't even nervous like I thought I would be but maybe that's because I don't really know anyone that goes to the games anymore and probably more so the fact that I didn't have to do any pyramids or basket tosses while I was there! That used to make me so nervous although I loved to do it. Such a great ending to a wonderful family filled weekend :)

Me and my little love before heading onto the field

Lilliana was in the spirit just after we arrived, she was dancing all over the place yelling "Go Tiger's!"

waiting to run out before the football players, just like old times :)

there I am! I had to make sure they weren't going to make us squeeze into our old uniforms before I signed up :)

I love her!!

"A Wild God Chase"
This past weekend, I headed out with a wonderful group of ladies to the Living Proof Live convention featuring Beth Moore. It was FABULOUS to say the least!! Beth is amazing, Godly, poetic, energetic, and just all around my favorite Christian speaker of all times! This was my first time to see her and I can't believe I haven't worked harder to travel and see her before. I really feel that once you see her, you are hooked. I am even thinking about traveling to Louisville next December to see her again. I just can't get enough of me some Beth. I have always done her studies in the past and have frequently done the video assisted studies and have always loved those, but I just didn't realize how truly wonderful she was till this weekend.
The evening started out with Travis Cottrell leading us in some amazing songs and wow, he had me hooked quickly. I had heard how wonderful he was form some of the other women I was with who had been to see Beth before but words don't really do him much justice either. I have enjoyed downloading many of my favorite songs already from i-tunes and adding them to my running playlist which I know will be beyond inspirational.
When it was time for Beth to come out, she shared with us how when she arrived at the airport earlier that afternoon she begun to ask God to show her a time in her life when she had experienced a "Wild God Chase" since that was what she had planned to speak on. She said that she didn't realize the way it would be revealed to her. She barely made it into Memphis after multiple flights were cancelled out of Houston, TX due to the weather and there weren't any other flights to leave out that day for Memphis! She told us that finally Lifeway chartered a flight which they still weren't sure was going to be able to take off. At 3:00 our time, she was still in the Houston airport waiting her fate!! The convention started at 7:00 that evening! She knew that if God wanted her in Memphis, she would make it to Memphis one way or another, oh and how thankful I am that she did make it. With more than 13,300 in attendance, it was such an amazing a life-changing experience. Her biblical knowledge is just astounding to me and I am still relishing in all I learned from her.
Saturday was just as wonderful and between Travis and his band again, we sang more wonderful songs and listened to Beth speak directly from her heart. If you ever have a chance to see her live, I say GO FOR IT! It was worth every penny, and I will definitely be searching for more opportunities near by in the future!!

Day #8 of "school"
Another great day of school is under our belt. Lilliana was so excited to see her precious teachers and classmates especially since she missed last week because of our beach trip. Miss Sha said she was missed and being on vacation got me a little out of sorts because I completely forgot it was pizza day until we arrived. Luckily, I had some cash on me still from vacation because I NEVER carry cash with me. Things are just so easily accessible these days without it that I just never have it on me. Anyways, I knew that although I had made Lilly a lunch she would be asking for pizza non-stop if she saw all of her friends enjoying it. I actually wish I had remembered because pizza days save me so much time not having to make her lunch before heading out to work on Sunday nights.
We got a great report and Lilliana made the cutest little pumpkin and learned a new bible verse. I am so proud of her for acting so good while she is at school and excited about all the new things she is learning while in a new environment. She napped for 1 1/2 hours and of course ate all her pizza. It is her new favorite food so I didn't deny that fact! And just because I don't want to forget, she actually pooped at school today. Wy do I care about that you may ask? Well, I just can't get over how many characteristics she has like her father. She has always seemed to have stage fright at school and never poops on Mondays, (her GiGi used to check her Dada out of school for this problem when he was in high-school!!) It just makes me laugh because she is sooo much like him!

The Beach
We just got back from a FABULOUS vacation to Watercolor, Florida. It is in Santa Rosa beach and was one of the most amazing vacation resorts I have ever stayed at. It was so quaint and they do such a great job at making you feel special while you are staying there. We rented a precious little carriage house that was connected to an amazing beach house and we just loved it. It was perfect for just the 3 of us and was just a short 2 minute bike ride to the beach. Yes, there were bikes left for us to use and we rented a carriage to attach to the back of Clay's bike for Lilliana to ride in. She loved it and would just sit there taking it all in!
Just as I imagined Lilliana had a fantastic time on the beach and I think she loved the "ool" (pool) even more. It was all we could do to get her back to the house between 1:30 - 2:00 for her naps. Which, she would then sleep at least 3 hours everyday because she had been going since around 7:00 each morning. We typically got to the beach by 9:00 and had paid for our chairs and beach umbrella to be set up for us which was such a huge help. It was so nice not to have to tote all that stuff down to the beach but to just be able to walk down there and have everything ready for us. Clay and I typically tend to go to more private beaches than this so that is usually not an option for us. (Although this beach was not crowded AT ALL) It was the perfect time to go and we were so thankful for the beautiful weather. When we left Sunday morning it was cool and rainy in Memphis and the weather was not looking good for the following week in Florida. It was supposed to rain everyday but we only got rain on Monday.
Because of the rain, we decided to head out to the outlets on Monday and do a little shopping. Lilliana is not the best shopper anymore and since we allowed her to watch DVD's the whole way down on Sunday all she wanted to do was watch Elmo and Abbey. That was all we heard about while we were attempting to shop so we weren't there long. All I purchased were a couple things for Lilly from the Gymboree outlet and then we ate lunch. I think that was a new record for me because I typically don't get out of there without dropping at least a couple hundred dollars!
We had asked around on Monday to see where the popular places were to eat while we were there. One of the recommendations was for a restaurant called Great Southern Cafe. Oh my goodness, it was so INCREDIBLE!! I loved everything I ordered and even tried what Clay had chosen. We had fabulous service and I was so pleased that Lilliana's food arrived when our salads came. That is one of the hardest things when we go out to eat these days, because unless I bring food from home for L, she really isn't all for waiting that long to eat a hot dog or grilled cheese. I think that is what sold me so much on this place but the food was also fantastic.
We also ate at a place called George's, then Crab Trap twice, Poppy's (wasn't very good and had bad service, our only bad experience but wouldn't recommend it), Another Broken Egg Cafe, Bud and Ally's, Pickle's Beachside Grill, and the Watercolor Beach Grill. Besides Southern, I would say my favorite was the Beachside Grill in our resort. It was so fabulous and I had the most amazing salad with crab cakes and shallot vinaigrette 2 days in a row. We also didn't even have to go anywhere to get it and were able to just stay at the pool which made my little love very happy :) Overall, we had a great experience as far as dining went and we were so glad that we had saved up so much cash before leaving because it made the trip so much more enjoyable. It was so nice to not have to worry about checking the bank account or worry about sharing meals, as we typically do when we go places like these. We were able to eat like Kings and Queens and thoroughly enjoy ourselves without any worries. It just made the trip that much more enjoyable and a great lesson learned!
We were supposed to head back on Thursday but decided to stay an extra day and left early Friday morning. We would have loved to stay even longer but I had a packed weekend that included Beth Moore Friday night and Saturday morning along with a long weekend of work and other things. I am pretty sure this is where we will go from here on out. Although it was a little more pricey, it was SO worth it and was one of the most relaxing vacations we have been on, even with an almost 2 year old!!

I know
Ok I've done it again, managed to get incredibly behind on blogging and although the world continues to pass me by, so does time and the ability to get on here and do some updating. I promise as soon as life slows down a bit to get caught up on all that is going on in the Burchett household. We are at the beach as I type this and although you would think it was the perfect time to get caught up, as I thought it would be, I just enjoy the ocean and sun way too much to stay inside and do so. But, I will leave you with this pic as a snippet of our FABULOUS vacation and I promise there will be more to come soon :)

Playground of Dreams
Today Lilliana and I packed up and headed to Arlington to play with Rachel and Rebecca at the Playground of Dreams. It was so much fun and the girls probably could have stayed out there all day. The weather was perfect and there was just so much to do and see while we were there.
Rebecca turned 2 in June so her and Lilliana are almost exactly 6 month's apart and it is neat to see where we will be in just 6 short month's. The girls played really well together which is neat for Rachel and I since we are friends and former roommates from college.
After the park, we headed to Chick-fil-A for a yummy lunch and then home for a long nap. Luckily Lilliana napped for almost 3 hours so I was able to get a quick nap myself along with finishing some laundry for the week. We head out on Sunday for the beach and I can't wait. I am so excited to see my little love have a great time playing in the sand, at least I hope she still loves it!

Luckily Lilliana napped for almost 3 hours so I was able to get a quick nap myself along with finishing some laundry for the week. We head out on Sunday for the beach and I can't wait. I am so excited to see my little love have a great time playing in the sand, at least I hope she still loves it!
